5 Fun Things To Fill Your Komodo Sailing Trip

Komodo sailing trip is in your bucket list this summer? How fun! I am looking forward to a sea excursion for this upcoming holiday, and going back to Flores sounds like a good idea. To see the only living dragon on earth with your own eyes. To take a selfie with the last prehistoric, gigantic lizard that once roams the earth. And to say that you have visited one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature (just how cool is that?).

The awesomeness of Komodo, indeed, is unbeatable. Yet, getting there is not an instant fun. You need to sail with Komodo Liveaboard to reach the Komodo Island, and the sailing trip can take times from two to three hours. Rest assured, however, as sailing with Komodo cruise is the extension of the fun itself! Yes, there are plenty of things to do above the liveaboard that makes the entire journey filled with fun and joy!

1.   Enjoy the Endless Sea

Seriously. What’s better than open sea and salty winds for a leisure adventure? A summer holiday is always synonymous with a sea, and sailing is just the best way to get it. Have I told you that the sea in Flores is ridiculously clear? You gotta be amazed by the crystal clear, turquoise and blue water that seems very pristine.

2. Lounging with good food and drink in the deck

In my search for a good Komodo Liveaboard budget, I stumble upon Hello Flores website and fell instantly in love. They have a good range of ships according to the price and capacity, and they seem to be designed with comforts in mind. I find that even the cheapest one, the Royal Fortuna, is very stylish and honestly it looks like a floating hotel in the sea. I believe that a good boat is very crucial for a sea excursion, as most of your time will be spent on the liveaboard.

Lounging in the deck is just the best way to spend the day while we are waiting to dock to our destination. With all stunning landscapes passes by the boat, we can just casually rest on the teak deck, eating pineapples and drinking a tropical cocktail or just simple fresh coconut. And with fashionable teak wood deck, white paint, and ocean-themed decor, who can resist taking a quick (or plenty) snaps to picture our perfect holiday?

3. Watching the dolphins

The Flores sea is actually full with wildlife habitats, and that includes dolphins, manta rays, turtles, and even dugongs! While turtle and dolphins can only be encountered during diving or snorkeling, dolphin spotting is actually pretty common to see. It’s very delightful to see these intelligent creatures jumping on and around in the open sea, squeaking almost playfully with one another.

4. Hoping to Nearby Islands

Sure, Komodo Island might be your main destination. However, it’s a big loss if you are just passing the surrounding islands. Seriously. They are absolutely gorgeous. Each holds exceptionally unique beauty with pristine beaches, crystal waters, hilly terrain, and lush grass (which turns into pretty auburn savannah in the dry season). Make your Komodo sailing trip to the fullest!

5. Jump for A Dive

With the hot weather and an open sea all around you, diving sounds totally legit. And to make you even happier, the Flores sea is actually part of the coral triangle and one of the best diving sites in the world. It can only be beaten by Raja Ampat diving sites in Papua. The clear water, high visibility, abundant corals, and healthy marine wildlife make Flores as divers’ favorite. A lot of divers even embark on Komodo diving liveaboard for a full week just to have diving hopping between one site to another. And trust me, there are plenty of pristine diving sites around Komodo National Park.

That’s it! A list of fun things to do on your Komodo sailing trip. Hope you have plenty of joy in the holiday.
